Mustafa İloğlu (31 August 1896, İzmir – 18 July 1994, İstanbul) is an author known for the eight-volume Gizli İlimler Hazinesi, which he compiled on prayer (dua), vefk and the science of havas. After primary school he worked as a railway clerk and in commerce, and devoted his life to the hidden sciences.

Mustafa İloğlu went in person to the severe cases of affliction (tasallut) that reached him and intervened. He documented the cases he attended and the sessions with audio recordings. According to accounts, he did not take a fee for these cases.

Mustafa İloğlu was born in İzmir in 1896 and died in İstanbul on 18 July 1994. He spent about forty years of his life in İzmir and more than fifty years in İstanbul. (The dates of birth and death rest on the official civil registry; the document is not published, per data-protection law.)

Who wrote Gizli İlimler Hazinesi?

The author of Gizli İlimler Hazinesi is Mustafa İloğlu. The work consists of eight volumes. İloğlu published the work by his own means during his lifetime; after his death, his heirs transferred the publishing rights to Seda Yayınları.

Was Gizli İlimler Hazinesi banned?

Yes. The first three volumes of Gizli İlimler Hazinesi were confiscated by decision no. 972/99 of the İstanbul 1st Magistrates’ Criminal Court, dated 15 May 1962. According to accounts, the confiscation came about after claims that those who read the invocations and formulas in the book unknowingly lost their sanity, experienced severe disorders, and even that some took their own lives, and after the complaints that followed. The decision is recorded in the list of confiscated publications in the Ministry of National Education’s Communiqués Journal. In later years the work was reprinted with some sections censored.

Is it dangerous to read Gizli İlimler Hazinesi?

Mustafa İloğlu himself stated that the invocations and formulas in his work are grave, and that people without sufficient knowledge should not read these texts unknowingly. With his famous “knife and lens” analogy he explained that the misuse of knowledge is dangerous, and that the outcome depends entirely on the reader’s knowledge, intention and concentration. The work has been referred to by the public as the “cursed book,” and its first volumes were confiscated by court decision in 1962. In short, in İloğlu’s own words, it is a grave havas corpus that should not be read unknowingly, without knowledge.

Who holds the publishing rights to Gizli İlimler Hazinesi?

Mustafa İloğlu published the work by his own means during his lifetime. After his death, his heirs transferred all publishing rights of the work to Seda Yayınları by an agreement of the İzmir Karşıyaka 3rd Notary, dated 27.01.1999, record no. 2534; the original edition (large and small formats) went to print on 30 June 1999. The work has continued to be published by Seda Yayınları since 1999 and is still sold today. Unauthorized (pirate) editions of the work have also been made in the past. This site is the official digital museum prepared by the rights holders of the work.

Mustafa İloğlu wrote only Gizli İlimler Hazinesi. Other books are sometimes found on the market under his name; those works do not belong to İloğlu.
